Why we've partnered with Beauty Banks

With the launch of Clean Hands, it was really important to us to find a way to support those in need during the current crisis. The impact of COVID-19 is far-spreading and the worst hit include those living in poverty, key workers and frontline NHS workers. We wanted to find a way to reach as many people in need as possible and provide them with something that was truly useful.

Partnering with Beauty Banks has allowed us to do just that. Beauty Banks, founded by journalist Sali Hughes and PR Consultant Jo Jones, is a grassroots movement on a mission to end hygiene poverty and support those in need with basic personal and hygiene products. Products that should be a basic human right, not a luxury.

When the COVID-19 situation erupted, Beauty Banks recognised that their work was needed now more than ever. They launched their #HELPINGHANDS campaign to support people in the UK who can’t afford to keep themselves safe, healthy and protected against the virus. Sali and Jo rallied for individuals as well as brands big or small to donate money or product where they can and have raised over £100k so far, as well as providing thousands of units of personal care essentials to those that really need it.

Beauty Banks recognised that they could use their network and #HELPINGHANDS donations to widen the extent of their support. The campaign reaches their UK registered charity partners that include food banks, homeless shelters, domestic abuse refuges, youth centres, NHS trusts and refugee centres across the UK. They have also directly partnered with the NHS so that as well as continuing to provide NHS frontline workers in hospitals across the country with emergency supplies and self care goods, they are now on call for NHS staff in London through an easy-to-use online platform.

Launching a hand sanitizer was our way of helping contribute to those impacted by the current crisis. Many of you, our customers, asked us to produce this product, which gave us the confidence to go ahead with the launch and enabled us to make a meaningful contribution to a cause that really matters. We have donated 3,000 units of our first production run of Clean Hands to Beauty Banks, which is currently being distributed to NHS frontline staff in the north of the UK. We will continue to donate a large percentage of every production run of Clean Hands during COVID and beyond. Whilst this amount is not directly linked to our sales or profits (meaning we donate no matter what), by purchasing Clean Hands you are helping us to continue to produce and donate an essential product that people really need. Thank you.
