CBD is one of the beauty industries hottest ingredient right now, but are there reasons for the hype? We think there is, so much so we even added our own CBD Booster to the BYBI family.
So, what IS CBD?
CBD is an active, non-psychoactive extract of the cannabis plant. It's important to note the difference between CBD and its fellow component THC, which is an extract of cannabis that gives you a “high”. CBD doesn't. THC and CBD are the two primary cannabinoids, of 80, that naturally occur in the Cannabis sativa plant.
CBD's calming nature is disrupting various industries but has become increasingly popular in the health and wellbeing space for its inflammatory and analgesic (pain-killing) properties.
But why doesn’t it get you ‘high’ tho?
Unlike its fellow cannabinoid THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD will not get you ‘high’ as it lacks psychoactive effects. THC, through its action on receptors in the brain, triggers a dopamine release. Whereas CBD, simply doesn’t have the same effect on the body.
Okay. So how’s it going to help my blemish prone skin?
CBD’s properties are HIGHLY calming, relaxing and moisturising which work peeeerfectly to aid blemish-prone, angry and congested skin. Think bruised hormonal spot one day, calm, flat even skin a few days later...
First of all, CBD is rich in essential fatty acids (particularly omega 3), Vitamin A, D and E. These fatty acids are great for aiding and maintaining the soft and supple surface of the skin.
It has been suggested in preliminary research that CBD acts as a messenger during the inflammatory response, helping to both reduce redness and oiliness, and increase moisturisation, resulting in chilled out, stress-free blemish free skin that glows UP.
Now you know the basics, why don’t you give it a go? Our CBD Booster is now available on our site for a very chilled out £12.
